How to run a family quiz night

  • Rounds of ten. Attention lasts about ten questions. Three rounds with a snack break is a perfect night.
  • Handicap the grown-ups. Adults answer the kids' round with their non-dominant hand, or only after a five-second delay.
  • Teams beat solo for little ones. Pair a young child with an older sibling or grandparent.
  • Steals. If a team misses, the next team may answer for one point. Keeps everyone listening.
  • Let the kids be quizmaster for one round. Reading the questions aloud is sneaky literacy practice.
